Book Talks (once a year)
Once a year each student will select a book that they absolutely loved! They need to be excited and passionate about this book. They will prepare a 20 minute speech about this amazing book. The purpose of the presentation is to persuade the class to read the book without spoiling it.
**The book must be at our above their Accelerated Reader reading level**
The project includes several parts:
1. A typed outline (see directions and sample)
2. A shared reading from the book (about a minute long)
3. A visual aide to assist with their presentation (Prezi, PowerPoint etc)
The preparation for this project is all done at home. At the beginning of the year the students will select a quarter in which they would like to do their Book Talk presentation. The Book Talks are generally done the last week of the grading period for their selected quarter. The outline for their presentation will be due the week before they present.
